PUEBLO — Police responded to the Wolf Village apartments in Pueblo Wednesday on a reported stabbing.

The apartments are off-campus student housing for CSU Pueblo.

According to Pueblo Police, the victim was stabbed in the chest and was in surgery Wednesday night. As of Thursday, the victim is out of surgery and is talking with police.

Police initially thought the suspect was inside an apartment and called for him to surrender. The suspect had actually left the scene, police found out later.

CSU Pueblo Head Football Coach John Wristen came to the scene and contacted the suspect by phone. Wristen convinced the suspect to turn himself in to police.

No charges have been filed yet. Police say the suspect is cooperating with their investigation.

No further information has been released at this time.
