EL PASO COUNTY — Prosecutors announced a plea agreement was reached in the case of a Manitou Springs man found dead inside his home in May.

70-year-old Darrell Berry's death was originally considered a suspicious death but was upgraded to a homicide after a coroner's report.

Berry's adoptive son, 44-year-old Bobby Joe Berry, was charged with first-degree murder in the case.

He entered a plea of guilty this week on a charge of reckless manslaughter with a stipulated sentence of 12 years in prison, according to the 4th Judicial District. He's expected to be sentenced in January.

Authorities have not released information on a possible motive in this case.
