Pikes Peak, Manitou Incline reduces access for marathon this weekend

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Manitou Incline and Pikes Peak - America's Mountain will have different hours Saturday and Sunday due to the 64th running of the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon.

The summit to Pikes Peak will open at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and there will be limited parking available for spectators due to construction. The summit will not be accessible to the public during the event.

When the gates open Saturday afternoon, visitors should prepare for congestion and longer wait times for shuttles and parking areas. The shuttles will start operating at 12:30 p.m. from the 7-mile and 16-mile parking lots.

The North Slope Recreation area will operate under normal hours and open at 7:30 a.m. Any traffic will not be allowed past the area until 12:30 p.m.

The Manitou Incline will be closed both Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon for safety reasons.

Family and friends of runners are encourage by Pikes Peak Marathon officials to watch the race livestreamed on a jumbo screen at Memorial Park in Manitou Springs.
