COLORADO SPRINGS — Pikes Peak - America's Mountain will delay opening the summit of Pikes Peak until 12:30 p.m. on August 24 for the 64th running of the Pikes Peak Ascent.

Because of construction, there is limited parking and available space for spectators.

The North Slope Recreation area will operate as normal, opening at 7:30 a.m. Traffic will not be allowed past this area until 12:30 p.m.

The shuttles will operate starting at 12:30 p.m. from the seven mile and 16-mile parking lots.

The Glen Cove parking lot is reserved for Pikes Peak Ascent personnel.

When the gates open, visitors should anticipate congestion and longer wait times for the shuttle and in the parking areas.

The race will be live-streamed on the jumbo screen at Memorial Park in Manitou Springs.

Pikes Peak Marathon officials encourage all family and friends of runners to watch the race at the park and celebrate with the runners when they return to Manitou Springs.
