PUEBLO COUNTY — Colorado State Patrol is investigating a semi-truck versus pedestrian crash that left one person dead in Pueblo County Monday morning.

The crash started as a three-vehicle crash that occurred on the northbound side of I-25 near mile point 106 at 4:34 a.m.

Colorado State Patrol said Jared Licon, a driver of one of the vehicles in the crash, exited his vehicle after crashing, crossed the center median, and entered into the southbound lanes of I-25 on foot.

A 2019 Freightliner Semi-truck was traveling southbound in the left lane when Licon entered into the roadway. He was struck by the semi-truck and flew back into the center median. The semi-truck came to a controlled stop on the southbound shoulder. Licon was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Alcohol use is not suspected as a contributing factor for the semi-truck driver and is not suspected as a contributing factor for the pedestrian at this time.
