COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs police are looking for answers after a man was hit and killed Saturday night on East Platte Ave.
At approximately 10:16 p.m. a police officer came across a pedestrian versus vehicle traffic crash in the the 5100 block of East Platte Ave. Medical personnel responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures, but the victim died on scene.
According to police, the man was walking on the roadway in the 5100 block of East Platte Ave. when he was struck by an SUV traveling westbound on Platte Avenue. The SUV and driver remained on scene.
This is the 41st traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2019. At this time in 2018, there had been 47 traffic fatalities.
