COLORADO SPRINGS — What better combo to raise money for a good cause than adorable dogs and cold beer.

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) said they hoped to raise more than $200,000 Saturday at Pawtoberfest.

The popular fundraiser takes place every year at Bear Creek Regional Park and is one of Colorado's only dog-friendly festivals.

The event features craft beer and spirit tasting, a two mile dog walk, agility demonstrations, pet contests, and more.

"This is a great way to not only learn more about the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, but also to have a great day of fun with your family and your dogs," said Gretchen Pressley with HSPPR.

All of the money raised at the event will help fund programs that benefit homeless and abused animals in the region.
