COLORADO SPRINGS — After multiple weather delays, renovations are now back on track at Bancroft Park, the centerpiece of historic Old Colorado City.

Work started back in September to make improvements for park-goers with disabilities as well as other upgrades to the pavilion, park lighting, and overall design.

Project engineers tell News5 they expect the bulk of the work to wrap up by the end of March with finishing touches made sometime in April or May.

Anticipation for Bancroft Park's reopening is high.

"Haven't heard a lot of negative comments," says Project Manager Steve Bodette. "I know that they've been expecting it, so I think they're just patiently waiting, just like we are to be able to wrap it up.''

The overall goal is to have the park ready in time for Old Colorado City's biggest annual event, Territory Days. Another event, "Old Colorado City Mad Hatter," has already been canceled as work continues.
