Palmer Lake officer arrested following shooting in Sedalia

SEDALIA — A Palmer Lake officer is facing charges following a shooting Monday night that injured one person in Sedalia, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies received a call around 12:20 a.m. about the shooting in the 4700 block of Lambert Ranch Trail where several people were present.

Palmer Lake Officer Brian Saltzman, who was not on duty at the time, was arrested in connection to the shooting that injured one person. The person, who is also an officer who was not on duty, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The sheriff's office said the shooting appears to be accidental and that alcohol is believed to be a factor.

He was bonded out of jail Monday. He is facing charges of second-degree assault, prohibitive use of weapons and reckless endangerment.
