COLORADO SPRINGS — Friday night around 10:30, Colorado Springs Police responded to a two vehicle crash in the intersection of N. Academy Blvd. and Platte Ave.
The vehicle involved in the crash were a Ford pickup and a small sedan.
CSPD said all three people in the sedan were seriously injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup was not injured.
According to CSPD, the initial investigation has revealed that the sedan was traveling northbound on Academy and attempted to turn left onto Platte when it was broadsided by the pickup.
The front seat passenger in the sedan, identified as 19-year-old Sarah Miranda of Colorado Springs, died at the hospital as a result of the injuries she suffered in the crash.
CSPD said the investigation into the crash is in the preliminary stages and it is unknown at this time if speed or impairment were factors in the crash. No charges have been filed at the time of this writing.
This is the second traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2020.
