Officials investigating deadly hit & run in Custer County

WESTCLIFFE — The Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol, and the District Attorney’s Office are investigating a hit & run incident that happened on Thursday night in Westcliffe.

According to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, officer were dispatched to a possible vehicle -v- pedestrian hit and run accident around 10 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies found Jacob Ross of Deatsville Alabama, in physical distress and telling Deputies he could not breathe.

Ross was able to tell police that he has hit by a car, but could not give a description.

Unfortunately, Ross succumbed to his injuries after multiple life saving measures were made.

The Colorado State Patrol also responded to the scene and will assist with the investigation moving forward.
