COLORADO SPRINGS — If you've noticed flashing lights in the evening around Pikes Peak highway, you're not alone.
Several of you reached out to News5 and we were able to find out for you that these lights are not aliens but some roadwork taking place.
The City of Colorado Springs said there is nightly road work this week for shoulder work around Ragged Edge, mile 14.5 of 19 on the highway. This road work is starting at 5 p.m. each evening.
While this "mystery" of flashing lights is now solved, there is one mystery that remains unsolved: the drones from late 2019/early 2020.
Authorities confirmed in late December reports of drone sightings in three more counties in northeast Colorado and at least one Nebraska county after nighttime drone flights in the region caused a national stir earlier.
However, no clear answer was given on what these sightings could have been.
