PENROSE — A unique tradition continued this New Years in Penrose.

The annual New Years Day ride took place Wednesday.

More than 100 people showed up from all over Colorado with their horses and rode around town.

"Just the people get together and a lot of people look forward to this ride. I hear about it all year that people are looking forward to it. This year hopefully the weather is good. They say and there are a lot of new faces every year," said organizer, Heath Marshall.

The tradition has been going on for 12 years. It started with just two riders.

Money raised during the event will go to the Colorado Horse Rescue Network.
