COLORADO SPRINGS — A new tasting room and distillery opened its doors Friday in Colorado Springs.

Drekar Meadery makes mead, one of the oldest forms of alcohol. The ancient honey wine has been catching on with new generations.

The owners decided to embrace a Viking theme for their customers in tribute to the drink's roots.

"Mead features heavily in North Sagas, so it's a big part of the culture of Old Scandinavia," said co-owner Tim Martin.

Martin says their version is a little bit less sweet than some others.

You can see for yourself by visiting the tasting room at North Circle near Galley.
