PUEBLO — Pueblo chile seeds will soon be launched into space, thanks to students at the STEM Center in Pueblo Community College.

They will send a satellite into the stratosphere carrying chile seeds, along with some other items.

The experiment is possible due to grant money from NASA.

The goal is plant the space seeds and see if the resulting peppers are bigger than normal.

"It is awesome, just the experience from programming the boards and being able to solder your own circuitry and then actually do the lab work afterwards it is really cool," said student Matthew Zimmerman.

The chile launch is scheduled for Saturday in Eaton.
