MONARCH MOUNTAIN — Monarch Mountain has announced they have decided to postpone their opening day for the 2020/2021 season because of limited early season snowfall.

They made the announcement Monday saying "they will open once the storms give us what we need."

If you still need to pick up your season pass, the Monarch Outpost in downtown Salida will be open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

As positive cases continue to rise across Colorado and the nation, Monarch Mountain wants you to consider the following ideas:

  • Before your visit, please view the latest COVID-19 updates for Colorado and Chaffee County.
  • Avoid weekends when possible. If given the choice, we strongly recommend skiing the weekdays. If there has ever been a time for a “Weekday Warrior” movement, this is the time. We know that is not possible for everyone, but those who can and do will be helping those who cannot.
  • Avoid historically busy days. This season these days are December 26 through January 3, MLK weekend, and Presidents Day weekend.
  • Keep checking their websitefor developing stories and updates.
