COLORADO SPRINGS — Police have recovered a vehicle stolen by a suspect who caused a lockdown at Memorial Hospital Central Monday and remains at-large.

The Colorado Springs Police Department found the vehicle Wednesday and said they are still searching for 35-year-old Randy Bishop after he escaped police custody at the hospital in downtown Colorado Springs.

Bishop was wanted on multiple warrants and was taken into custody after a traffic accident. He was transported to the hospital for a medical check.

There was heavy police presence at the facility Monday afternoon until just before 4:30 p.m. A lockdown was put in place for a possible shooting at Memorial Hospital Central.

Officers in body armor were seen carrying long rifles and blocking access to the hospital.

Police said that while receiving medical care, Bishop was somehow able to run inside the hospital. A CSPD detective followed him and a physical altercation occurred.

During the altercation, Bishop took the detective's weapon and fired at least one shot. The detective was injured, but the injury is not life threatening.

No medical staff or patients were injured.

Bishop then carjacked a silver BMW from the hospital parking lot and fled the scene.

The suspect is now being sought on multiple charges, including attempted homicide.

Bishop was listed as one of Pikes Peaks Crime Stoppers' most wanted last month on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and strangulation, kidnapping, felony menacing, and child abuse.

Anyone with information on this incident or Bishop's whereabouts is asked to contact CSPD at (719) 444-7000. Police said they believe he still has the detective's weapon in his possession and should be considered armed and dangerous.
