Manitou Springs police chief placed on administrative leave

MANITOU SPRINGS — The City of Manitou Springs announced Monday its police department has placed its chief of police on administrative leave.

The city said Brian Churchill was placed on leave effective Jan. 21 due to a "personnel matter." During this time, Bill Otto will act as police chief.

There was no further information available regarding the matter.

Churchill was selected as chief of police in Sept. 2019. He has served in law enforcement since 1993. He was previously employed by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department as the Investigations and Administrative Lieutenant.
