PUEBLO — Pueblo Police officers found an intoxicated man "bleeding heavily" from cuts on his hands who they later determined fled the scene where someone reported gunshots being fired, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

Police say they heard gunfire as they arrived to the 1600 block of Moore Ave. Thursday night, but they could not find the source. Officers said they found a trail of blood, followed it and found a man with severe cuts to his hand that he received after fleeing the scene.

Authorities said the man was intoxicated and bleeding when he passed out. Officers worked to stop the bleeding until an ambulance arrived.

Although officers did not find the gun, PPD said they believe the man was the one firing the shots. Officers collected the man's car and found evidence from his residence that they'll apply for a search warrant.

The man was taken to the hospital to be treated and PPD said the charges for this incident will be forwarded. His name has not been released.
