COLORADO SPRINGS — A man has died in a fall at Red Rock Open Space.

CSPD said officers responded to the area around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday and found a deceased adult man.

The department said the man was hiking in a restricted area fenced off by a 6-foot-high chain link fence just outside of the park boundary when he slipped and fell. He fell an estimated 85 feet.

CSPD said the fall is being considered accidental. The area where the man fell is right next to Highway 24, so there were reportedly numerous witnesses to the fall.

At this time the man has been identified only as a white male. No further information has been released.
