COLORADO SPRINGS — A man is in custody for driving under the influence after causing a three vehicle crash, which included a police car, at the intersection of Academy Boulevard and Hancock Expressway Saturday night.
According to police the driver of a gray Acura RL, a Hispanic male, was traveling south on South Academy Boulevard in the far right lane at a high rate of speed and struck a Nissan Murano that was in the right lane of South Academy Blvd. at the red light.
Police say the Murano was pushed into a Subaru that was directly in front of it. After the initial impact, the Acura was pushed southeast and struck a police officer's car.
The driver of the Nissan Murano was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
The driver of the Acura has been arrested for DUI.
