King Soopers holds hiring event in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — A young man named Jacob is among hundreds of job seekers in line at a King Soopers job hiring event in Colorado Springs. A couple of weeks ago he was a happy with his retail job selling clothes. Then coronavirus fallout caused business to plummet. "Unfortunately, a lot of employees got laid off, they just kind of told us they can't hold us because they don't have any work for us,” said Jacob.

The King Soopers job fair puts a spotlight on the hit to businesses and jobs due to the COVID-19 prevention response. "I thought it was going to be like ten people, maybe 20,” said a job seeker named Kyle, “Turned out to be like 300."

Groceries stores are a contrast to other workplaces losing business. King Soopers and other grocery stores need to hire more employees to deal with demand

On Tuesday March 24th, there is a second day to the King Soopers hiring event from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Interviews will happen right on the spot at the Colorado Springs King Soopers located at 7915 Constitution Ave. Candidates may be placed for employment within days.
