COLORADO SPRINGS — A special food distribution happened Wednesday at Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs.
Pikes Peak United Way teamed up with Care and Share Food Bank and Safeway Grocery Stores to provide meals to 500 families in the Springs.
Care and Share also handed out additional food boxes to each of the families.
The organizations are able to distribute 35,000 pounds of food at events like this and are projecting to give away more than 30 million pounds of food this year.
