Several law enforcement agencies across southern Colorado are on accident alert status, including the Colorado Springs Police Department, the Pueblo Police Department and the Fountain Police Department.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for El Paso, Teller, Pueblo, eastern Fremont, Huerfano counties until 11 am.

Snow will likely wrap up before this but driving will still be hazardous until this advisory ends.

10:05 a.m.

Mountain Metro bus service will start up at noon. Expect delays and allow extra time for your trip.

9:50 a.m.

Crash between Wilcox Street and Happy Canyon Road exits has been moved. Expect delays if you are traveling north to Denver and drive with caution.

9:37 a.m.

CDOT tweeted northbound I-25 is closed between Mesa Ridge Parkway and South Academy Boulevard. Use exit 132 as a detour and watch for emergency crews. (reopened as of 10 a.m.)

9:20 a.m.

Road closed between Exit 99A - CO 96; 6th Street and Exit 99B - 13th Street on northbound I-25 in Pueblo. CDOT is asking drivers to use an alternate route as all northbound lanes are closed at City Center Drive exit. (CDOT has reopened the road)

9:15 a.m.

CDOT reported a crash on SB I-25 between Exit 184 - CO 86; US 85; Meadows Parkway and Exit 182 - Wilcox Street. The department said the left lane is blocked south of Founders Parkway.

8:50 a.m.

CDOT lifted commercial vehicle chain law on US 285 NB/SB between MM 229 and MM 250 and on US 6 EB/WB between US 40; US 6 and CO 58; CO 93.

8:45 a.m.

CDOT asks drivers to not pass plows while they are out clearing the roads this morning.

8:27 a.m.

University of Colorado - Colorado Springs announced it will be closed today. It was previously on a two-hour delay.

8:20 a.m.

Mountain Metro announced it is not running routes this morning due to dangerous road conditions.

8:05 a.m.

Colorado Springs Police is reporting another stolen vehicle in the area of Serendipity Circle and Tee Time Place. Anyone who sees 2012 Gray Nissan Versan with a Colorado license plate of QNH532. You should not approach the vehicle, but call CSPD at (719) 444-7000 if you see the car.

7:38 a.m.

Colorado Springs Police sent out a warning via Twitter to be on the lookout for a stolen vehicle. Anyone who sees the green Ford Edge with Colorado license plate CBZ547 should not approach, but call police at 719-444-7000. The car was taken from the area of Hearthwood and Serendipity. The area is just east of Palmer Park.

It is unknown if this was a puffing theft or something more serious. It is unusual for police to put out an alert on a stolen vehicle.

7:30 a.m.

Jackknifed semi-truck on I-25 southbound at Fillmore Street cleared out, per CDOT.

7:12 a.m.

Westbound Austin Bluffs is backed up past Union due to vehicles not being able to make it up the hill and slide offs.

Traffic lights are also out at Austin Bluffs and Academy. Please treat these intersections as a 4-way stop and drive with caution.

6:57 a.m.

Meterologist Alex O'Brien has the updated snow totals for this morning.

6:52 a.m.

Cars are stranded along East Woodmen Road as road conditions continue to be icy and slick this morning. CSPD is asking drivers to avoid Woodmen and Union Boulevard.

6:30 a.m.

News5's Jessica Barreto is checking on road conditions this morning. Here is a video update of a jackknifed trailer on I-25 SB between Fillmore and Fontanero.

6:10 a.m.

We're keeping track of current traffic conditions:

  • Jackknifed semi-truck on NB I-25 south of North Academy has the right lane blocked (removed as of 6:20 a.m.)
  • Jackknifed semi-truck on SB I-25 south of Fillmore has the left lane blocked
  • Crash NB I-25 north of Cimarron has the right lane blocked

5:35 a.m.

Several law enforcement agencies across southern Colorado are on accident alert status, including the Colorado Springs Police Department, the Pueblo Police Department and the Fountain Police Department.

That means if you are in an accident with no injuries or deaths, suspected driver impairment, no property damage and no road blockages, you can exchange insurance/contact information and report the crash within 72 hours.

CDOT announced a passenger vehicle traction law is in effect on US 24 EB/WB between MM 148 and Eagle River and on US 50 EB/WB between County Road 42B and Monarch Pk Campground.

Passenger vehicles are required to have snow or mud/snow tires, use chains/alternative traction devices or be a 4WD/AWD vehicle.
