COLORADO SPRINGS — Another winter storm is moving through southern Colorado with snow that may impact your commute times Tuesday afternoon and even Wednesday morning.

3:14 p.m.

University of Colorado - Colorado Springs is closing early for Tuesday, October 29 due to weather concerns. All activities and classes after 4:30 are canceled.

2:48 p.m.

A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday for Western Chaffee County, Northern El Paso County, Monument Ridge, Pikes Peak, Teller County and the Rampart Range. People in this region should expect an additional 6" to 10" of snowfall overnight.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

A Winter Storm Warning is also in effect for the Wet Mountains until noon Wednesday with an additional 8" to 14" of snow overnight.

Pueblo Combined Court and Probation - Opening at 10 am. If you are scheduled for an event during the times of closure, please contact the court or probation once the building is accessible. (For Wed. Oct 30th)
Colorado State Univ. - Pueblo - Main campus classes canceled 4 p.m. Facilities close 6 p.m. / COS Tower location classes canceled 2 pm. NO evening classes.
IntelliTec College - CS Campus - Evening activities canceled. Night classes canceled. Employees do not report. Campus closing at 4:00pm Tuesday.
Pueblo Community College - Closed. Pueblo campus closing at 3:30pm Tuesday. Fremont campus closing at 5pm Tuesday. All evening classes canceled.

Here's the latest snowfall forecast from the National Weather Service in Boulder which predicts up to ONE FOOT of snow in Cañon City; up to an additional 6" in Colorado Springs by Wednesday evening. Our First Alert 5 Lead Forecaster Mike Daniels and Meteorologist Alan Rose are working on the data for a clearer picture of what's to come. Colorado Parks and Wildlife - Due to dangerously cold windchills and an incoming snow storm, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife SE Region office in Colorado Springs will close at 2:30 p.m. today.
Schriever Air Force Base - 2 hrs late for non-mission-essential staff. Report no earlier than 9:30 a.m.

US Air Force Academy - Phased early release for non-mission essential personnel starting at 1 p.m.
Colorado College - Operating on limited-service status through 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Pikes Peak Community College - PPCC all campus closure at 5 p.m. today

Pikes Peak Library Dist. - All Mobile Library Service routes are canceled, Palmer Lake Library is closed, Monument Library will close early at 11 a.m., Ute Pass Library will close early at 2 p.m., and all other library locations will close early at 3 p.m.
First Presbyterian Church- Afternoon and evening activities canceled. Church closing at 3 p.m.
Pikes Peak Christian Church - Afternoon and evening activities canceled. All WellCare classes included.

Safety closure on I-70 at Silverthorne due to crash.

Colorado Department of Transportation closed both directions of I-70 between Exit 292 and Exit 359 US 24.

9:20 a.m.

Arapahoe County, Centennial, Sheridan & Cherry Hills are on accident alert until further notice. Personnel will only respond to accidents w/injuries or fatalities, disabled vehicles due to damage, damage to public property, DUI's or hit & runs.

7:20 a.m.

Colorado State Patrol is now on Accident Alert Status. If you are involved in a minor fender bender, there doesn't appear to be alcohol or drugs involved and it's not involving public property, you can exchange information and file a report online at https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/dmv/report-accident.

6:49 a.m.

Check with your airport on the status of your flight before heading out. Several flights are cancelled at Denver International Airport and the Colorado Springs Airport. As of 6:49 a.m. there are three flights between Colorado Springs and Denver listed as cancelled on the Colorado Springs Airport flight status board.

I-70 EB/WB Passenger vehicle traction law between MM 205 and MM 228, MM 241 and MM 259.

US 50 EB/WB: Passenger vehicle traction law between MM 190 and MM 210. Passenger vehicles are required to have snow or mud/snow tires, use chains/alternative traction devices or be a 4WD/AWD vehicle.
