PUEBLO — A long time dance teacher in Pueblo is going to be honored in a pretty special way.
Sarah Shaw passed away earlier this year but left a lasting legacy. Over the span of nearly 60 years, she taught dance to thousands of kids in the Home of Heroes.
A group is now planning to put up a statue of the iconic dance teacher outside of City Hall.
"She really worked hard to have all of her students learn the values of team work, competition, friendship, integrity, and just really hard work and most importantly, confidence," said Becky Cafasso with the Sarah Shaw Memorial Fundraiser.
City Council has unofficially agreed to have the statue put up.
The group behind the statue plans to have it put up by next May, around the time when Shaw would hold their spring dance recital.
