COLORADO SPRINGS — There was lots of healing at the Cheyenne Mountain zoo Saturday.
It was Teddy Bear Day!
For the event, kids ages 3 to 11 brought their stuffed animals to the zoo for a health check up. Volunteers from Children's Hospital Colorado were on hand to provide x-rays, stitches, and other TLC to the kids' favorite animals.
Organizers say the event helps ease the fear some children have of doctors and hospitals.
"I feel like the kids and families understand a little bit more the process if they have to go to the emergency room or the hospital, what will be involved in that," said Dawn Thompson with Children's Hospital.
Along with teddy bear care, many of the zoo's regular animal care demonstrations took on a medical theme as well.
