Juvenile suspect arrested in connection to Friday night shooting in Pueblo County

PUEBLO COUNTY — The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect in a shooting that occurred Friday night in the county.

The shooting occurred just before midnight Friday night at a home in the 1600 block of Genes Street. This is in Eastern Pueblo County.

According to the Sheriff's Office, as deputies were on route to the scene, they learned there had been a "disturbance" involving a large group of teens, prior to shots being fired.

When deputies arrived in the area, they saw an SUV attempting to leave and stopped it. Inside, they found several occupants, including the victim of the shooting. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

The Sheriff's Office said several of the juveniles who were in the area at the time of the shooting were questioned and a suspect was identified.

Saturday afternoon, detectives arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the shooting. He was located and taken into custody without incident, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office said the suspect will not be identified, as he is a juvenile. He was arrested for Attempted First-Degree Murder and Second Degree Assault. He has been booked into the Pueblo Youth Center.
