PARK COUNTY — An intense thunderstorm late Tuesday night dumped rain and hail on Spinney Mountain and Eleven Mile State Parks in Park County.

The storm dumped rain that led to flash flooding which damaged roads in the parks. An estimated 16 inches of hail also fell, with Spinney Mountain receiving the brunt of it, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

CPW said the gate is closed to the Spinney Mountain Access Road because it is impassable due to the damage that was sustained. The agency said there is currently no time table for when Spinney Mountain will be reopened, but it will be assessed on a daily basis as repairs are made and the road dries out.

Eleven Mile remains open on both shores, CPW said.

Motorists should drive carefully in the area dn expect road damage and debris along County Roads 92 and 59.
