Five students charged following alleged threat at Sabin Middle School

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Springs Police have charged four Sabin Middle School Students and a Doherty High School student with misdemeanor Interference with School Staff, Faculty, and Students after investigating a social media post with a potential threat.

Police describe the post as showing "five juveniles holding what appear to be firearms with a caption that suggested people not go to school the next morning."

All of the students were identified early this morning. Officers interviewed the children with their parents present.

There was extra security on the Sabin campus this morning to address the potential threat. Classes continued as normal today.

In this case, school staff was able to identify all the students involved in the alleged threat. There is a place to report these incidents anonymously. Safe2Tell is a program that allows community members to report safety concerns.
