COLORADO SPRINGS — A popular program from the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is back on the road in 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wellness Waggin', a mobile veterinary clinic, had to stop its services in March 2020. The Wellness Waggin' is in Colorado Springs on Wednesdays and Thursdays while it is in Pueblo on Saturdays.
"We like to hit these desert areas where no vet clinics kinda are. And, then keeping these pets vaccinated and healthy helps lower them from coming into the humane society with medical complications," said Savannah Moore of the HSPPR.
The program offers low-cost vaccinations, wellness visits or exams and gets microchipping and licensing for pet owners with economic and geographic barriers.
"We care about our animals and we want to keep them well and get their shots the way they need to have them done once a year. I think cost right now is on a lot of people's minds and this just makes it really easy," pet owner Kelly Beyrouty said.
