CAÑON CITY — A company in Cañon City made a history discovery while renovating its new headquarters.
Tezak Heavy Equipment bought the Wells Fargo building in downtown. When workers started tearing it apart they found the old Fremont County National Bank underneath.
That bank was built around 100 years ago.
Tezak plans to keep the original building and make it into the company's headquarters.
"You know we were all kind of surprised to see what was underneath there and the shape that it is in and how it was preserved by the previous architect when they put the mansard roof on there," said company owner Danny Tezak.
Tezak Heavy Equipment hopes to be finished with construction by December 2020.
