SOUTHERN COLORADO — Highway 85 at South Academy was shut down in both directions on Friday due to a pavement tar spill.
A tanker truck hauling pavement tar rolled on its side causing a spill of the tar onto the pavement.
The spill then had to be cleaned up, the contents of the truck transferred and the truck righted.
Colorado State Patrol says about 7,000 gallons of the goo shifted as the truck turned north onto HWY 85 causing the rollover.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
There is no word if charges will be fired.
This is an ongoing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
