PUEBLO — Construction has begun on Parkview Medical Center's helipad

The eventual raised helipad will hover about North Greenwood St., which will allow traffic to pass underneath.

It will connect to Parkview via walkway, allowing access to an elevator to take patients directly to the emergency department.

The hovering helipad will save approximately 15 minutes off of arrival time to get patients to the critical care they need.

During construction, Greenwood St., between 15th and 16th streets will be closed to through traffic.

"The new helipad is crucial to getting faster treatment for our patients and saving lives," said Leslie Barnes, President and CEO. "We recognize the inconvenience of the construction phase and we apologize in advanace to our neighbors, visitors, and patients," said Barnes.

Anticipated completion of the project is summer of 2020.
