FORT MORGAN — Gov. Jared Polis provided an update Friday on the state's response to COVID-19.

He said the statewide mask mandate will likely be extended for another 30 days. The order was set to expire this weekend.

Gov. Polis said mask wearing has allowed the state to open many businesses and schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also said he hopes to end the mandate as soon as possible, and if the state's nightlife can return successfully, the mask requirement will be re-evaluated.

Polis was joined by Rick Garcia, Executive Director at the Department of Local Affairs; Betsy Markey, Executive Director at the Office of Economic Development and International Trade; and Angie Paccione, Executive Director at the Colorado Department of Higher Education.
