COLORADO SPRINGS — Plans are taking shape in Colorado Springs for an economic rebound in the midst of the on-going COVID-19 threat. "Consumer confidence is more important than ever," said Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC, President & CEO, Dirk Draper. He has been collaborating with El Paso County Public Health leaders on a way to balance health concerns and economic recovery.
Weeks of work have resulted in specific guidelines for best practices as businesses work at gradually reopening. "We wanted to equip businesses consistently and clearly to be able to say we're here, we're operating under safe practices,” said Draper.
The best practices information was developed with a dual purpose. "We're hoping it gives customers the confidence that, that's a safe business to visit because they're following those guidelines," said Draper. The guidelines have been formatted into a sign that can be downloaded, printed, and then posted for customers to see. It offers a visual cue that COVID-19 prevention measures are in place.
A lot of businesses want the information. Draper says “hundreds” have been downloaded since the resource went on-line a couple of days ago. It is available on the Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC website.
