COLORADO SPRINGS — There is an allowance in the Stay at Home order by Governor Polis for some exercise and fresh air in Colorado's parks and open spaces. If it is abused, it could go away. “That’s the last thing we want,” said Trails and Open Space Coalition, Executive Director, Susan Davies. Outdoor advocates in Southern Colorado are stepping up with a plan.

"What we're asking people to do is, get out and spread out,” said Davies. Get Out and Spread Out is the title of an initiative help locals find alternatives to often crowded open spaces like Garden of the Gods. Social distancing to prevent COVID-19 spread is undermined if too many people end up at any one park or open space.

“There are all these little jewels around our community,” said Davies, “We want to bring the jewels to you, so you have choices, safe choices."There is now a Get Out Spread Out link on the Trails and Open Space Coalition website. “You'll find at least a dozen options, bike rides, short walks, longer hikes. Geographically spread out around our city and we're going to add to those."
