FREMONT COUNTY — The number of visitors to Fremont County over Memorial Day weekend wasn't what business owners were hoping for.

The county had its variance approved before the holiday weekend but businesses said they didn't see the holiday crowds like in previous years.

Despite the slow start as more normalcy returns, business owners said they're remaining optimistic.

"It was great to be open. We've been waiting for so long to get to this stage so we are happy to embrace new health protocols and safety standards in order to keep our staff and guests safe out there," Ben Sack with Echo Canyon River Expeditions said.

Since the variance was just approved, business owners said they expect the crowds to pick up again over the next couple of weeks.
