COLORADO SPRINGS — The El Paso County Health department confirmed to News5 Monday that three Walmart employees tested positive for COVID-19, adding a fourth positive case in a release Tuesday.
The department said the employees work at Walmart on Space Center Drive. EPCH says they considered this an outbreak, which is defined as two or more confirmed cases within 14 days.
Out of an abundance of caution, Public Health is alerting anyone who may have been at this Walmart location between May 8 and 13.
As EPCH learns more through this investigation, they will share additional details as they become available.
Walmart is working with El Paso County Public Health to conduct an investigation of the situation and working with store employees who may have been exposed to the three positive cases.
The store will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on Monday evening. Walmart has been enacting protocols aimed at protecting staff and customer like taking temperatures of associates, plexiglass at checkout, floor decals, limiting the amount of customers and requiring associates wear masks.
Walmart has adjusted their operating hours to 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
We will update this story as more information becomes available.
