FOUNTAIN — The Fountain Fire Department now has a new tool to use when responding to car fires.
The department is one of the first in the country to buy a Fire Blanket.
Officials say car fires typically shut down the interstate for an hour, but the Fire Blanket will help crews put out fires quicker and will allow for the interstate to reopen faster.
The Fountain Fire Chief said they have already used the blanket once and it was extremely effective.
