FOUNTAIN — A driver who hit a school bus carrying 17 students in a stolen truck and fled the scene in December was sentenced Tuesday to 12 years in jail.

The Fountain Police Department said Sean Johnson was driving the truck that had a crane attached to it when it "swung out of control," hitting the school bus on Dec. 5 at Highway 85 and Fontaine Boulevard.

Officers were following up on reports of a stolen vehicle from an AutoZone at 100 Plaza Drive.

Johnson led police on a short chase until they were able to find him after they searched a wooded area. He was sentenced on an aggravated motor vehicle theft charge.
