COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs Police have arrested a former VillaSport employee on charges of sexual assault against a child.

Police say 21-year-old Ryan Callins is accused of initiating sexual contact with two juvenile victims while he worked in the Villa Kids program.

VillaSport terminated Callins on November 13, 2018, for reasons unrelated to the allegations against him.

CSPD received reports of the alleged sexual assaults on February 27 and detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit began investigating.

VillaSport was informed of the allegations on March 6 when when police asked for permission to search the reported scene. The business asked officers to obtain a search warrant, and a search took place on March 7. CSPD says VillaSport complied with officers during the search, allowing detectives to gather evidence.

An arrest warrant for Callins was issued on March 27, and he was taken into custody the next day for two counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.

Detectives say this is still an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000.
