FLORENCE — The Florence Police Department's Chief called off shift for the final time Monday afternoon.

According to the department, Chief Michael DeLaurentis dedicated 42 years of his life to public service.

The Chief signed off the radio for the final time Monday at 1:07 p.m. The moment was captured on video and can be seen below.

In a Facebook post, the department said they want wish the Chief well as he ventures off into the life of retirement and added that it has been a pleasure working with and learning from him.
