Fiery crash kills driver in Fremont County

FREMONT COUNTY — Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Fremont County the killed one person.

Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon a driver in a 1977 Chevrolet truck was moving south on Shelf Road when it went off the side of the road and down a cliff.

CSP says as the truck went downhill it overturned several times and caught fire before it came to rest on it's wheels.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and remained inside the truck, but died at the scene.

The driver has not been identified.

CSP says drug and alcohol use are not believed to be factors, but the crash is still under investigation.
