COLORADO SPRINGS — The body of a fallen U.S. Marine and Colorado native is back home.
A plane carried Corporal Erin Rachel Lilley-Fogle back to Colorado Springs Tuesday evening.
News 5 spoke with her family who said she was stationed in Parris Island. On October 11th she had stopped to help someone on the highway when she was struck by oncoming traffic.
"She turned around to help somebody who had hit a deer and was crossing the road to go help the people," said her father, Michael Lilley.
Lilley said there were three people in the car and two of them were Air Force members.
Officials said no drugs or alcohol were involved. It was simply a tragic accident.
In the wake of her death, Michael Lilley and his wife, Melinda Lilley, are remembering their beloved Erin Rachel surrounded by their other daughters.
Her funeral will be held Friday at Green Mountain Christian Church in Lakewood.
