PUEBLO — If you're into creepy crawlies and pets that slither, the Pueblo Convention Center is where you want to be this weekend.

The Herps Exotic Reptile and Pet Show opened Saturday morning.

Organizers say the show is a fun, family-friendly event designed to introduce exotic pets to more people and give them a place to purchase these unique animals.

The Herps team carefully screens all of their vendors to assure the highest quality animals are at the shows. The team also provides educational opportunities for all ages at the shows.

Due to COVID-19, organizers had to separate the show into three different rooms, are focusing on social distancing, and will make sure people are wearing masks.

"We're following all the social distance protocolsW we are considered essential pet retail. A lot of these vendors rely on these shows to feed their families and things like that, so it's good that we can still have it in the State of Colorado. We're following all the guidelines. We're just trying to play it safe and do what we can," Shawn Gray said.

The expo continues on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the convention center. The show will be back in Pueblo on Dec. 12 and 13.
