COLORADO SPRINGS — The El Paso County Public Health Department has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Sand Creek Division after three employees tested positive for the virus.

EPCPH defines an outbreak as "two or more confirmed cases within 14 days, with evidence of transmission within the facility.”

As of Friday, the spread has been contained to the Sand Creek Division’s Investigations Unit and the employees who tested positive are recovering well.

In accordance with EPCPH and CDC guidelines, the infected individuals and those potentially exposed were isolated or quarantined as appropriate.

CSPD says that operations will continue as normal and they are not expecting any staffing shortages or challenges as a result of this outbreak.
