EL PASO COUNTY — The agriculture community around Colorado Springs came together Saturday to raise money and support for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

Russel Freeman, owner of Freeman Ranch, said he saw people supporting police online, so he and his neighbors and friends put on a rodeo and roping contest at his ranch to give people a place where they could say hi and thank you and donate to the Sheriffs' Office.

Admission to the event was free but folks were encouraged to donate what they could.

More than 200 competitors and their families attended the event. Many businesses also made donations.

Freeman said he had no set expectations or goals for how much money they would raise but it will all go to the El Paso County Sheriffs' Office.
