PUEBLO — More people are driving drunk in Pueblo this year.
According to Pueblo PD, 229 people have been caught driving under the influence in Pueblo so far this year. That number is on pace to beat last year's total of 317.
Pueblo Police said they hope a $20,000 grant from CDOT can put more officers on the road to help stop this problem.
"It supplements what we already do and it is always important to supplement important things that are in our community, and drunk driving is one of them," said Sgt. Franklyn Ortega. "The more officers we have, the more we can process, the more we can curtail this problem."
The Pueblo City Council will still have to approve the grant request.
