COLORADO SPRINGS — A driver was seriously injured in a wreck after they hit a cement planter, rolled over and got ejected from the car in Colorado Springs, according to police.

Officers responded to the crash just after 10 p.m. Thursday at 5500 N. Union Blvd.

Once on the scene, officers found a dark-colored BMW flipped on its side.

The driver was heading southbound when police said they were speeding and ran off the right side of the road, causing the car to overturn.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is considering speeding and impairment as factors in this crash.

The driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition to be treated.

During that time, Union Boulevard was closed in both directions while authorities were on the scene.

No other cars were involved and no charges have been filed yet.
